Tara Leigh Scott is a 1994 graduate of St. John’s University where she received a B.A., Summa Cum Laude, in criminal justice and a minor in international relations. To fulfill her minor in International Relations, Ms. Scott spent her junior year at the Technical University of Budapest in Budapest, Hungary.
Tara received her Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1997. During this time, Tara attended the University College of London in London, England and studied international human rights issues. She co-authored an amicus curiae brief filed in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of a local human rights organization in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ms. Scott has 18 years of experience in criminal defense, family law and general civil litigation matters, including insurance litigation. Her broad experience in the courtroom allows Tara to develop the vast experience necessary to effectively defend general liability and miscellaneous professional liability matters. Tara’s international experience serves as an integral asset in the diverse and multicultural nature of South Florida and throughout the state.
Tara is a member of the Florida Bar, the New York Bar, Washington Bar (inactive status), the USDC Southern District of Florida and the USDC Middle District of Florida.
Tara volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem for the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County Florida. She is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and the criminal law section.
