Lisa Stevens Associate

Lisa Stevens is an associate attorney whose practice focuses on general liability defense and complex insurance litigation, including professional liability matters involving attorneys, design professionals, corporate executives, and business entities.
Her practice includes defense of lawyers’ professional liability claims arising from litigation strategy, settlement negotiations, motion practice decisions, and alleged failures in professional judgment. She has assisted in developing “case within a case” defenses focused on causation, comparative negligence, and damages apportionment in matters arising from underlying commercial disputes, construction litigation, and personal injury actions. Her approach emphasizes early identification of dispositive issues through targeted discovery, strategic use of proposals for settlement, and leveraging evidentiary gaps to narrow exposure and encourage resolution.

Ms. Stevens also handles architects and engineers professional liability matters involving allegations such as improper structural load calculations in mid-rise residential projects, alleged failure to detect HVAC and mechanical coordination conflicts during design review, and claims involving construction administration oversight on mixed-use developments where subcontractor sequencing disputes resulted in delay and cost overrun allegations. She assists in expert coordination, document analysis, and motion practice in cases involving alleged deviations from building code compliance, shop drawing approval disputes, and site supervision deficiencies.

In addition, she has exposure to miscellaneous professional liability and management liability matters, including:
• Directors and officers & claims involving alleged breach of fiduciary duty in closely held corporate disputes;
• Private equity and small business governance conflicts involving financial reporting and operational control disputes;
• Cyber/privacy incidents involving unauthorized access to client data and alleged failures in data protection protocols;
• Insurance agent and broker liability claims involving coverage placement disputes and alleged misrepresentation of policy terms; and
• Professional negligence claims involving service providers in consulting, advisory, and financial roles.
Her practice further includes third-party insurance defense litigation involving premises liability, negligent security, and bodily injury claims, with experience handling discovery, depositions, and dispositive motion practice in both state and federal courts.
